Stand With A Girl (SWAG) Initiative is youth-led organization dedicated to ensuring that every girl in Nigeria, no matter where she is born or found is empowered to fulfilll her maximum potential. Our goal is to promote a safe and supportive environment for the social, economic, academic and healthy development of girls in Nigeria.

Since its establishment on March 1, 2016, SWAG Initiative has implemented activities with rural and urban slum marginalized Adolescent Girls, Parents, Community Members, Religious and Traditional Leaders promoting girls’ empowerment and gender equality through the fight against harmful cultural practices and gender norms, low level of education, poor sexual and reproductive health information and services.

5K

5000 girls gained basic life skills such as self-esteem, assertiveness, negotiation, financial and communication skills to become informed changemakers.

Offered 137 girls (10-25years) a virtual capacity building safe space to engage, learn and share experiences on life skills and SRHR issues during COVID-19 pandemic.

Built and strengthened capacities of 1000 parents and caregivers on effective parent-child communication on Sexual & Reproductive Health (SRH) and girl child education. These parents made commitments to speaking up to their girls on their SRH needs.

Created awareness on Menstrual Hygiene Management and distributed sanitary pads and soap bars to over 500 adolescent girls on World Menstrual Hygiene Day.

Engaged at least 20 public and private secondary schools in Zaria, Kaduna State to promote girls’ enrolment and retention in school.

12 States in Nigeria translated Adolescent and Youth Sexual & Reproductive Health (AYSRH) data into simple, friendly, catchy and responsive storybooks with over 165 Decision makers engaged on promoting young people’s access to quality health.

Recently introduced the Stand With A Girl Education Project (SWAGEP) to reduce the number of out-of-school girls in Nigeria by collaborating with well-meaning individuals, corporations, international organizations and sister organizations to provide the fees and tools needed to keep at least 300 girls in schools.
